Blog Post: How to make a bad situation into a good one!
posted Friday, October 3, 2008 4:49 PM
Hi, this is Bill Kasko , President and CEO of Frontline Source Group, Inc. a temporary staffing and direct hire employment placement agency based out of Dallas, TX. Nobody ever said getting fired or laid off was an easy thing to swallow. Believe it or not there may be an upside to upsetting news like this. Look at getting fired or being laid off as your employer giving you a little push that now allows you to make some drastic changes.
You lost your job for a reason, so whether it was you, the job or the boss, you need to know what did and didn't work about the situation. You can start aggressively asking yourself questions like “What can I do in the future to make sure this doesn’t happen to me?” or “Are there things about my leadership skills that I should reconsider?” Try to look at this as an opportunity to challenge yourself and prepare a good foundation for the next position you are in. The alternative is to blame others and stew in negative emotions -- and that never helped anyone get their career back on track. You might discover that you needed to move on from that job but weren't willing to take the step. Getting the pink slip sure won’t seem like a blessing in the beginning, but if you look at the benefits of getting fired and enjoy the challenge, you could find yourself making a career move that makes you much happier. If you have found yourself in this position and are looking for your next career move, Frontline Source Group is here to help!
