Marshall Motors is uncommonly tidy, the floor so clean, it begs for you to sit down and eat a snack off it, no plate required. His crew, in matching polo shirts, has fresh-scrubbed fingernails, no trace of grime. Marshall Motors - perfectionist or no?

I probably get in more trouble around here for harping on people than anything else. I am a perfectionist at home, too. You can ask my wife - I'm the biggest pest around the house as far as getting the house clean. I'm the one that gripes at the kids. I'm the one that runs around and picks up the socks off the floor. Luckily, my family responds with tolerance. That, along with humor, is the best weapon.

Co-workers tease me about my ability to spot tiny mistakes on customer’s cars. My Techs get this look on their face like, "You can look at that, but only if you don't change anything." Letting them know what to change is the only way we’ll learn. Can I help it if I have a good eye for detail?

Even something that's supposed to be casual like e-mail, you find yourself taking forever to make sure everything is correct. If you send an e-mail that has typos, it reflects so poorly on you, especially in your job search.

Lesson Learned: Be a perfectionist in your communications with hiring mangers and employers! Always strive to learn! Attention to detail is not just an important aspect at Marshall Motors, but across all professions!
