Blog Post: Why would you network with other job seekers?
posted Friday, July 31, 2009 12:17 PM
Lately there have been so many job seeker educational opportunities pop up all over the metroplex. I have honestly been amazed and surprised at the sheer number of groups that have formed to support those in transition.
When I was a job seeker - a mere three years ago - these types of resources were not around. Certainly not where I could find out about them. Which is another reason I am so grateful for Jobing.com in our community. So you might be asking yourself "why would I want to network with other people who are unemployed?" That's pretty counterintuitive isn't it? Well, the reason is simple. Say someone finds out about a job and they either aren't qualified or not interested in that job. But it may be PERFECT for you. Then clearly you want to be the first to know. You are going to want that person to pass the opportunity along to you. Think of it as an extended reach for your job search. Sort of like a little colony of job seekers working to interconnect eachother with the right opportunities. As was mentioned, there are many of these types of groups in the metroplex. For a partial list of them, check out our events page. If you know of any others that aren't listed, let me know about them! Good Luck Job Seekers! Share the opportunities you aren't interested in and pay it forward!
