Carrying on from the blog I posted last week “Is the sky really falling? I don’t think so…” as I had predicted, the Labor Department reported Thursday that the number of jobless claims dropped by 9,000 last week.

Contrary to what some have told me from this board, I do understand that some areas of the country are going through a slower time and analysts are forecasting a period of slower growth. Reality is that we are just not seeing this in Dallas Fort Worth. This slow down is reflected in the housing market and the credit squeeze that has made it difficult for businesses and consumers to get loans.

The unemployment rate stands at 4.9% and according to CNN.com will rise to 6% before the current slowdown has run its course. Does this mean that we may never get out of this slump? OF COURSE NOT!

The market is constantly changing and it will always have it's up’s and down’s. Why is it when we are in a slump or slow down that it feels like a recession? I think the media wants us all to feel the pain of others and talk ourselves into a recession. Look, the financial conditions are tough right now for a lot of people, no doubt. I believe that with a positive frame of mind you will produce positive outcomes. This is not just something we practice in business but rather something that we need to practice in our daily lives as well.

Stay positive, persistent and stay on course…network, interview and discover opportunities that are out there! Whatever you do, do NOT give up or fall victim to the non-sense in the media. Job growth in Dallas Fort Worth will continue to prosper and demand for 'top talent' will not end. Your new career is out there….go find it!
