Easter Seals North Texas, Inc. was created by the merger of two Easter Seals organizations one serving people with disabilities in the Dallas region and one serving people with disabilities in the Fort Worth region.  Over the past several years, it became more and more apparent that in order to serve children and adults with disabilities better, to offer more comprehensive services, and to make those services available and accessible to more people who need them, cooperation and collaboration between Dallas and Fort Worth was necessary.  Once the two organizations knew they could work together to produce great outcomes, the search for greater efficiency and effectiveness developed into the concept that actually combining the two would create synergies that would surpass the capacities of the both operating alone.

On Friday, June 1, 2007, Easter Seals North Texas was born.  With a new name, a new organizational structure, a new governing Board of Directors and two new regional Boards, four campuses where services are provided, and a Chief Executive Officer with more than 35 years of experience leading not-for-profit organizations, we opened our doors with a new ability to serve the growing number of people with disabilities, their families and the related community in the metroplex and the entire combined service area.  The mission of Easter Seals North Texas is to create opportunities that advance the independence of individuals with disabilities and other special needs.

While Easter Seals North Texas is new, we are formed from two Easter Seals affiliates, each with a long and successful history of providing help for children and adults with disabilities.  Easter Seals of Greater Dallas  was established in 1939 and Easter Seals Greater Northwest Texas was established in Fort Worth in 1947.  Both affiliates have had several names and been located in several places as they changed to meet the needs of the people they served.  Our interest and commitment to meeting the needs of people in our communities by providing quality services with exceptional care have been at the core of any changes.  Today we are one Easter Seals North Texas, providing more than a dozen outstanding services to people with disabilities.
