Women in Construction was founded in 1953 in Fort Worth,
Texas, by 16 women working in the construction industry.
Knowing at that time women represented only a small fraction
of the construction industry, the founders organized to create a
support network for each other. Women in Construction of Fort
Worth was so successful that they amended their charter to
incorporate other chapters throughout the nation, and on May
17, 1955, they became The National Association of Women in
Construction.
The Dallas Chapter was the first extension of the organization,
being chartered in August, 1955 with 16 members.
Monthly dinner meetings are held on the Third Monday of the
month at 6:00pm (except for the months of July and
December) at the OMNI Dallas Park West Hotel, Dallas, Texas,
and include an educational seminar. The cost for monthly
meetings is $28.00.
