Job: Speech-Language Pathologist

The Speech-Language Pathologist plans, organizes and implements speech-language pathology services in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the facility and as may be coordinated by the Director of Rehabilitation to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is delivered.

The SLP is responsible for the following:

Working with the Director of Rehabilitation, evaluates, develops, organizes and implements patient/resident care programs through the utilization of selected speech-language, swallowing and aural rehabilitation testing and treatment procedures.

Administers selected aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia and swallowing evaluation tests.

Evaluates, fits and adjusts adaptive and augmentative communication devices to assist the patient/resident in maximizing functional abilities.

Participates in conferences, consultations, Facility Care Plan meetings, as needed, and educational programs designed to improve patient/resident care and staff performance as directed by the Director of Rehabilitation.

Instructs patient/resident and family in speech-language pathology procedures to be continued upon patient/resident discharge.

And other duties as needed.

Candidates must be graduates of an accredited speech-language pathology school, eligible for licensure in the state in which the program is located, and has ASHA Certification.

Supervisory training or certification required.

Ability to work flexible work hours to support state and federal resident care requirements.

Prior experience in long-term care is preferred.
