Job: Telecommunications Manager

Primary duties include responsibility for Denton County’s telecommunication services (telephone servers, telephone instruments, call center applications, call accounting system, voicemail, fax servers, voice and fiber optic cabling, telecommunication circuits, voice gateways, and related systems); maintaining accurate documentation of configuration and procedures; ensuring system security and data integrity; performing backups; and developing and implementing backup procedures to ensure high availability of telecommunication services. Additional duties include assisting with the management of routers, switches, firewalls, VPN services, wireless access points, and other related equipment. Employee maintains on-call status and carries a wireless phone at all times. The Telecommunications Manager is responsible for coordination and supervision of telecommunication related vendors and consultants hired by Denton County. Maintains a high level of responsive customer service.

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required for this position. Completion of some technical college classes preferred. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of four years of experience with traditional telephone systems and cabling as well as experience with designing, implementing, and administering advanced networks systems and infrastructures. Three years of experience with PC software and PC repair; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.

Requirements:
Microsoft and Cisco certifications preferred. Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager 7.x, Cisco Call Manager Express, Cisco Unity 7.x, Cisco Unified Contact Center Express 7.x, Open Text RightFax Server, T.38, Cisco VG224 and ATA voice gateways, Cisco networking equipment, and Microsoft Windows Server experience preferred. Must not have any Class B misdemeanor or higher convictions or deferred adjudications.
