Department: MUNICIPAL COURTS
SALARY: $33,122.00 Annually ANN#: K08-3 CLOSING DATE: Until Filled LOCATION/ADDITIONAL INFO: MUNICIPAL COURT APPLY ON-LINE ONLY The City of Fort Worth Municipal Court is seeking a qualified candidate to provide Spanish language interpretation and translation services to non-English speaking public in Municipal Court proceedings; to provide simultaneous and/or consecutive interpretation of court proceedings and the translation of court related documents. Must be proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows-based computer applications. This position requires heavy telephone and public contact. The ability to speak both English/Spanish Spanish to English bilingual skills is required. Knowledge of courtroom environment preferred. The selected candidate must be a Licensed Court Interpreter and possess a current Federal Court Interpreter Certification OR a Texas State Certification license as issued through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Austin, Texas at the time of hire. The selected candidate will be administered the City of Fort Worths oral and written Spanish test in order to be certified with the City as an Interpreter. Certified Federal Court Interpreter applicants must become licensed by the State of Texas as a Court Interpreter within 6 months of employment. Skills / Requirements
High School Diploma or GED. Four (4) years of interpreter experience in a court or public setting AND a Texas State or Federal Court Interpreter Certification.
NOTE: A Bachelors Degree in Spanish may be substituted for three (3) years of the required four (4) years of experience. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:The Municipal Court operates 24 hours per day, this includes weekends and holidays. The incumbent must commit to the possibility of working any shift within a 24 hour period, any day of the week, as needed. Important Notes
Conditions of Employment: Persons selected for employment into any position must pass a drug test. Some positions may require passing an alcohol test. Previous employment and any additional experience will be subject to verification prior to employment processing. A driver?s license and driving record check will be conducted if driving is a job requirement. A post offer employment medical examination may be conducted prior to job placement. You will be paid by direct deposit or pay card only.
