Job Title: CRIMINAL COURT SUPPORT MANAGER
Salary: $2,109.35 - $2,320.29 Biweekly
Job Type: Regular Full-time
Location: Tarrant County, Texas

This position manages the activities of the Criminal Court Support Office and the Attorney Appointment Office. Organizes and coordinates the functions performed by the auxiliary court coordinators, administers the appointment of counsel for indigent defendants in a manner that is fair, neutral, and nondiscriminatory as outlined in the Texas Fair Defense Act, and assists the Criminal Court Administrator as necessary. NOTE: YOU MUST FILL OUT THE WORK HISTORY and EDUCATION SECTIONS OF APPLICATION TO SHOW YOU HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION AS REQUIRED BY HIRING DEPARTMENT OR BE DISQUALIFIED.

Skills / Requirements
1.& Implements and manages Indigent Defense On-Line (IDOL). 2.& Manages the office. Responsible for appointment of attorneys for all non-juvenile indigent defendants as required by the Texas Fair Defense Act and policies set by the Judges. 3.& Implements and manages centralized indigence determination resources and personnel. 4.& Prepares routine reports. 5.& Manages personnel resources to support court personnel needs. 6.& Supports Differentiated Felony Case Management (DFCM) through the auxiliary coordinators. 7.& Educates and trains all facets of the system and the policies and procedures of the system, to staff, attorneys, court personnel, and staff impacted agencies. 8.& Analyzes and prepares the budget for the Attorney Appointment Office; operates within budget. 9.& Analyzes and prepares the budget for the Court Support Office. 10.& Assists in the analysis and preparation of Grand Jury and Court budgets. 11.& Analyzes and makes recommendations concerning legislation related to indigent defense. 12.& Administers the attorney application process for those seeking court appointments. Receives and processes applications and reviews proof of compliance by defense attorneys. Keeps attorney applicants records current. Recommends addition/deletion of attorneys to/from list(s). 13.& Maintain working relationship with the Task Force on Indigent Defense. 14.& Speaks publicly at meetings or events. 15.& Supervises maintenance of auxiliary court calendars. 16.& Assists in grant activities related to indigent defense. 17.& Compiles statistics and data for special projects. 18.& Performs all other duties as assigned by the Criminal Courts Administrator. Minimum Requirements: To apply, must have a Bachelor's degree or higher in related field + Six (6) full-time years of work experience in related field, including three (3) full-time years of management experience.
OR
To apply, must have Ten (10) full-time years of work experience in a related field, including three (3) full-time years of management experience.

To apply, must have valid Driver License; must be able to drive without danger to self or others.

Experience in working with Microsoft office products and public speaking experience preferred.

Must be or have the ability to become a Texas Notary Public.

This incumbent is required to complete 10 clock hours of criminal law continuing legal education, including at least one hour of attorney ethics continuing education with an emphasis on understanding the attorney ethical rules in criminal cases, during each calendar year of employment.

Demonstrates willingness to learn and comply with legal and technical requirements and applicable ethics provisions.

Maintains cooperative, professional working relationships with counsel, court personnel, and other contacts.

Maintains organized office and systems; operate in systematic manner. Effectively manages office and supervise subordinates.

Demonstrates working knowledge of operations of criminal courts.

Develops and stays within a budget. Is proficient in use of computer (word processing, e-mail, use of spreadsheets and document production and manipulation), facsimile machines, telephone system, other data technologies, and office machines.

Possesses strong English writing and speaking skills and ability to speak comfortably to large group
