The City of Fort Worth is seeking to hire a Victim Assistance Specialist for the Police Department Special Services Bureau.


Successful candidate will provide crisis intervention services and assistance to citizens who are victims of domestic violence and to inform citizens of their rights as a victim of crime; refer victims of crimes to appropriate community resources; compile statistics on crimes; assess needs of crime victims; make community presentations on victims compensation; inform victims about the criminal justice system, legal options, victimology and perform other related duties and responsibilities as required.

The selected candidates will receive general supervision from higher level supervisory or management staff.

Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or a related field PLUS two (2) years related experience working with crime victims in a social services setting required.

Must have knowledge of principles and practices of crisis intervention and victimology, victim services and the needs of victims of crimes.

Microsoft Word and PowerPoint computer skills and data entry skills required.

Position duties also require extensive telephone and public contact skills.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Texas drivers license and an acceptable driving record required.


MISC. REQUIREMENTS:City of Fort Worth policy on acceptable driving record required.

Final candidate will be subject to a criminal background investigation, drivers license check, drug testing and a polygraph examination required.
