SafeHaven of Tarrant County is a nonprofit organization that exists to end family violence through safety, support, prevention and social change. SafeHaven formed in 2006 through a merger of Women’s Haven and The Women’s Shelter, two organizations that have fought to eliminate domestic violence in Tarrant County since 1976 and 1978, respectively. SafeHaven operates two emergency shelters, one in Arlington and one in Fort Worth. The facilities accommodate a combined 174 women and children. In 2007, we served over 2,500 adult and child victims in our two shelters and community education efforts reached 57,541 people. Bi-lingual services were provided to 247 clients and 1,711 people received counseling services. SafeHaven also owns the TCU-area resale shop Berry Good Buys, which is a significant source of funding. These efforts are supported by a dedicated volunteer force who contributed an amazing 22,213 hours in 2007. SafeHaven also provides counseling, legal representation and bi-lingual services to our clients, many who go from our shelters into our transitional housing program which helps them achieve violence-free independence and stability.
If you have a passion for helping others and making a difference in the lives of thousands of adults and children who have been victims of domestic violence consider joining our team at SafeHaven.
