    Altair Global is searching for a Relocation Payroll Tax Accountant. So what does that boil down to?

    The Relocation Payroll Tax Accountant is responsible for calculating, documenting, reporting and communicating with transferees, clients and others pertinent to the “gross up” and/or tax treatment of transferees’ wages as related to relocation expenses.


    We are looking for a stellar individual to join our team. The Relocation Payroll Tax Accountant will be responsible for the following:

    • Gather transferee wage data, inputs and maintains in current software
    • Process gross up calculations, auditing final result for accuracy prior to balancing client file
    • Act as point person for responding to transferee, client or colleague inquiries pertinent to gross ups, tax treatments and/or client reporting
    • Prepare calculations for weekly, monthly, quarterly, year end and any ad hoc reporting
    • Escalate complex or problematic situations to management for timely resolution
    • Encrypt payroll and client employee files for data transport across the Internet
    • Maintain client specific wage request schedules
    • Load client supplied employee wage data from the Altair secure Web portal into the Altair gross up application
    • Load the client employee gross up data to the Altair secure Web portal for transmittal to the client payroll department
    • Coordinate the loading of timely and appropriate tax year tax updates to rates, brackets, and logic for National, state/provincial, and local tax entities
    • Prepare year-end closing tax gross up media packages for transmittal to client employees
    • Issue duplicate gross up media packages for transmittal to client employees when originals are lost or misplaced
    • Prepare journal entries for client employee expenses
    • Prepare balancing audit spreadsheets for gross up number verifications prior to sending to client or client employees
    • Prepare client employee payroll data update requests and enter change data into the appropriate software application prior to year-end gross up processing
    • Any additional assignments, activities, and/or projects as requested by the Director, Tax and Assignment Services or Altair management



    Minimum High School Degree, Bachelor Degree preferred or equivalent combination of experience, skills, training and education

    Training and Experience

    • At minimum, 2 years’ experience within relocation industry, consulting firm or multinational company in an accounting position with exposure to tax assistance/payroll processing
    • General knowledge of accounting principles, concepts and practices
    • General knowledge of domestic and international relocation expense processing concepts, processes and practices
    • General knowledge of payroll processing procedures, payroll tax withholding procedures and tax gross ups
    • General knowledge of current domestic and international relocation tax laws and regulations
    • Expertise using multiple software packages including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and one or more current accounting software packages
    • Must be able to multi-task and handle a high volume transaction work load quickly and accurately
    • Must be able to remain calm while working under pressure and against deadlines
    • Able to communicate confidential and sensitive information to/with colleagues, clients, assignees/transferees at all levels
    • Must be comfortable working with numerical data for extended periods of time
