Product Development Specialist

We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Product Development Specialist to join a Leader in the Pet bedding industry servicing retail accounts such as Wal-Mart, Costco, Petco, PetSmart, BJ’s, Tractor Supply and more. To support a dynamic and growing business, Central Pet Home Essentials (within our Pet Segment) is searching for a passionate Product Development Specialist who understands product development from concept to execution, with ability to manage timelines and cost within a product life cycle.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Execute the product development process from concept phase to launch
Take design packet and fully develop samples to include ticks and fully finished imported items
Sample and cost products so that most efficient margins are maintained for company and customer
Write product specifications, set-up part #’s, set-up BOMs, maintain UPCs and item master, develop packaging with art department
Communicate daily with internal sales team, CPHE Shanghai office and international vendors to ensure correct prototype samples are being produced and to ensure production and quality are maintained at the highest level.Follow-up with CPHE Shanghai office and China factories daily
Daily negotiations with Chinese factories including raw material, finished good and various packaging products
Initiate packaging requests within the creative department
Develop and cost samples for all trade shows
Provide support and assistance on other CPHE projects, as needed
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum 2 years’ experience in pet bedding, textile, or home fashion product development
International sourcing experience is a plus
Fabric and sewing knowledge, strongly preferred
Must be a very detail oriented, critical thinker with excellent follow up skills
Must be adaptable with the ability to function accurately in a fast-paced environment
Must have excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, SAP, Outlook)
SAP experience preferred
