Job Title:City Plan and Zoning Commission

Location: City Hall, 1500 Marilla, Dallas, Texas
As established by the City Charter, the City Plan Commission is responsible for making recommendations to the City Council regarding planning and zoning matters, and for administering Chapter 212 of the Texas Local Government Code regarding the platting and recording of subdivisions and additions. It is through this planning for and regulation of land development that the City Plan Commission achieves its land use planning objectives.

The commission meets bi-weekly on Thursday at 9:00 a.m.. Public hearings begin at 1:30 p.m. and last approximately four hours. Briefings occur prior to public hearings. The first meeting of the month is a bus tour and may last up to ten hours. A member may expect to devote at least 25 hours a month to commission service. 

Members must possess the same qualifications and be subject to the same disqualifications as members of the city council. [City Code, Sec. 51A-3.101]
