The Dallas Housing Authority Board of Commissioners has responsibility for local policy-making, administration and planning of programs which provide, or assist others in providing an adequate supply of good quality housing which meets the needs and financial abilities of low-income citizens so that no Dallas resident must live in substandard housing. The majority of DHA's programs and activities are funded by and subject to regulations of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
 Meetings:
The board meets twice monthly on the second and third Thursday of each month. Meetings usually last one or two hours. Meeting locations alternate between the DHA Board Room at 3939 N. Hampton Road and community rooms of various public housing developments owned and operated by the Dallas Housing Authority. Special meetings are called by the chair periodically as needed with public notice of the time, place and agenda. A member can expect to devote about two hour and occasionally three hours a month to board service.
 Qualifications:

There are no special qualifications for membership; one commissioner of a public housing project over which the authority has jurisdiction.
