Overall Job Objective

Job Description

Responsible for performing electrical or plumbing or HVAC work or construction inspections and oversight in all City buildings constructed and/or maintained by Facilities Management

Essential Functions

  • Repair/replace/inspect electrical or plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Schedules and performs Preventative Maintenance Program
  • Troubleshoot/repair/inspect electrical or plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Test and maintain electrical or plumbing or HVAC systems
  • Assist in compiling data for the computerized work order system
  • Coordinate maintenance contracts as assigned
  • Train technical staff as needed
  • Assist in gathering quotes for annual budget
  • Attend major design and/or construction meetings
  • Ensure all work is compliant with City and State codes
Additional Duties:
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Five years in commercial building maintenance or related field, i.e., mechanical trades, HVAC repair/maintenance, electrical repair/maintenance, plumbing repairs/maintenance, building inspections or public works inspections
  • HVAC A or B license, Master Electrical license or Master Plumbing license or be able to obtain within 3 months of employment

  • Ability to form and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and customers
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance
  • Ability to use a computer including Outlook and creating Word documents
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with supervisor, team mates and customers in English
  • Ability to read and create construction schedules with Microsoft Project

Conditions of Employment

  • Must have a valid Class "C" Driver's License prior to employment
  • Must pass a drug test, driver's license check, criminal history background check, social security number verification check, and an FBI background check
  • Must pass a physical examination
  • Must be able to work overtime when requested
  • Must be willing to work a on call rotation
  • Must be able to provide proof of HVAC A or B, Master Plumbing license or Master Electrical license at employment or within 3 months of employment
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • 10+ years' experience in commercial electrical or plumbing or HVAC (including chillers) or building inspections
  • Proficient in using Adobe Acrobat Pro software.
  • Auto CAD software abilities.
