Overall Job Objective
- Position Summary
- The purpose of this position is to provide outstanding customer service, assist staff, and help maintain the safety of the Senior Adult Activity Center and its patrons.
The City of Farmers Branch will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first come, first serve basis. As soon as we determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice after a three business day minimum posting.
- Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for facility maintenance by ensuring that members complete liability waivers; disinfects equipment, desk areas, and microwave/coffee equipment and areas; organizes copy and desk areas; placing warning signs as appropriate (i.e., out of order, wet floor, slippery area, etc.); opens and closes facility as appropriate; empties recycle bins; restocks coffee area, and folds laundry.Provides customer service by answering phones; directing walk-ins; responding to patron questions; hosting on-site facility tours; taking attendance for organized classes or activities; assisting patrons with special requests; clean and arrange marketing materials on shelves; and, maintain updated information on facility bulletin boards.Assists with event management by setting up and taking down tables, chairs, equipment, etc. for scheduled classes and/or special events; assists with class or event registrations and membership IDs; and, serves as cashier for classes or events as needed including handling cash and making daily deposits.Provides general facility support as needed.
- Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience with Active Net software preferred. Ability to learn Active Net software required.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Work requires regular interaction involving exchange and receipt of information. Basic Microsoft Office knowledge required.This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results with little room for deviation. The immediate supervisor may, at times, provide close and constant review.Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.Basic ability to recognize meaning of common two or three syllable words. Basic ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations. Basic ability to write simple sentences containing subject, verb, and object, and/or a series of numbers, names, and addresses.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to work evenings and week-ends; mobility within an office and field environment.LICENSES AND CERTIFICATESValid Texas driver's license with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed.CPR and AED certifications within six (6) months from date of hire.
