  •   Position Purpose:
    Under general supervision, perform skilled repairs and routine maintenance on freight and passenger elevators including wheelchair lifts and dumbwaiter equipment.

    • Accredited High School diploma or USA equivalency
    • Three (3) years of of work-related experience preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to perform responsibilities under general supervision
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot
    • Demonstrated ability to work under time pressures and demand of the position to ensure achievement of completion deadlines
    • Demonstrated ability to complete work orders accurately
    • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of District personnel
    • Must maintain a valid Texas driver license and have a driving record that meets District standards
    • Must pass a Dallas ISD random drug test

    Basic Functions:
    • Implement a prioritized start-up planned maintenance program on all elevators as well as a year-round program and recommend plan of action for each unit as needed
    • Monitor, schedule, authorized, and inspect current work performed by elevator maintenance contractors
    • Inspect and perform necessary maintenance on all pistons and seals
    • Inspect and repair all ropes, cables, and shackles as needed
    • Inspect and ensure all relays and contacts are properly connected
    • Inspect and maintain oil levels in buffers and hydrous
    • Inspect all pits, car tops, and machine rooms for cleanliness and ensure rooms are clutter free
    • Inspect and maintain all corridor lanterns and buttons for proper working condition
    • Identify and resolve various maintenance repair problems related to elevators
    • Enroll in necessary training classes for ADA and code compliance as to state requirements
    • Turn in work orders daily
    • Document and report assessments to the Elevator Supervisor
    • Assist in obtaining materials and tools for the job using the District's purchasing procedures
    • Report observed maintenance problems that require the action of other Maintenance departments
    • Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and hours worked, for work order completion on assigned work, projects and other required records
    • Follow district safety guidelines, using good safety practices for operating hand and power tools and equipment as needed for job completion. Wear safety equipment as assigned, at all times
    • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicle as assigned daily, informing supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicle as required
    • Communicate effectively with principals, department heads, district staff, and all other auxiliary services personnel in a professional manner in all phases necessary to locate, correct, repair, and complete each job or project
    • Employee may be required to respond to after hour/emergency callouts, be placed on an emergency call out rotation, and flex work hours to accommodate job completions
    • Comply with District policies and procedures
    • Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned
    • All federally funded incumbents of this position must comply with time and effort reporting requirements

    Salary Minimum: Salary Midpoint:
    $19.03 Per Hour $23.21 Per Hour

    Selected individuals for Dallas Independent School District positions will be placed according to compensation guidelines. A campus-based professional employee may not assume a new position for which he/she was selected based upon the posting process until the end of the current semester, unless approved by the Executive Director - Human Capital Management.
