Expedia Group's comet team is composed of distinctive brands (Travelocity, Orbitz, CheapTickets, ebookers, Wotif and LastMinute AU) honoring our heritage while encouraging innovation. We are seeking a creative, data driven Strategic Communications Manager to join our Travelocity Brand Marketing team. Travelocity supports travelers as they “Wander Wisely” and is dedicated to being the champion of our customer throughout their travel journey. Founded in 1996, the brand has maintained the second highest level of awareness in the OTA category. At Travelocity, we are redefining how we interact with and serve our customers. A critical part of this journey is ensuring that we have a well-defined plan for public relations using a strategic communications approach. In this role, you will contribute to building and promoting the public image of Travelocity in the market. In addition, you will support the development of a fully integrated communications strategy. To be successful in this position, you will need to be able deliver on critical communications objectives, collaborate cross-functionally with key partners, help build and implement a strategy, and use a sound, data driven approach to synthesize information and analyze key results.

Who you are:

  • Have obtained at least a bachelor's degree
  • Worked in public relations for at least 4 years
  • Skilled communicator with good copy writing skills.
  • Able to look at trends in the industry and translate them into actionable results.
  • Passionate about being current on the latest industry trends; able to articulate key details and potential opportunities clearly and confidently.
  • Skilled at working with both internal and external partners to drive a communications strategy.

What you'll do with us:

  • Work with leadership team to design a communication strategy to drive brand objectives.
  • Ensure our brand identity permeates all Travelocity public relations communication.
  • Develop and execute integrated consumer campaigns, that deliver on brand objectives in a measurable way.
  • Find opportunities to build brand equity in the press, and with key consumer groups.
  • Handle incoming inquiries from news media, and facilitate media briefings and/or interviews.
  • Develop and bring to bear relationships with consumer press, vertical trade media, and industry partners.
  • Develop innovative, engaging employee initiatives and communications that enable employees to be informed brand champions.
  • Monitor and provide a weekly snapshot of competitive news to the broader organization.
  • Coordinate posting on internal company blog.
  • Stay on top of the news agenda to capitalize on key awareness opportunities with quick and creative press releases.
  • Handle reactive communications issues that contribute to the perception of our brand.
  • Assist with compiling ongoing brand campaign and program recap decks.
  • Evaluate monthly communications performance metrics, comparing to historical data as well as key competitors.
  • Manage annual brand marketing and PR budgets.
