Job Description


1. This occupation requires the fabrication and assembly of electrical and electronic parts, materials, hardware, wiring harnesses, components and sub-assemblies into completed assemblies in the manufacture and modification of electrical, electronic, electro-mechanical equipment, consoles, racks, vans, pylons, etc. Reliability, communications skills, workmanship, and good judgment are essential traits.

2. AEEs at all levels are expected to perform work at increasing levels of skill and complexity as they gain experience.


Responsible for, but not limited to:

1. Performs fabrication, assembly, installation and processing of electrical-electronic parts, materials, hardware, and components into sub-assemblies and completed assemblies.

2. Assembles electrical and electro-mechanical equipment, wiring, hardware, parts, etc., on all types of assemblies such as overhead racks, vans, consoles, pylons, etc., where the assembly processes have been determined.

3. Determines wire routing and assembly sequence on racks, vans, consoles, pylons, etc., that are similar in construction and design to previously fabricated units.

4. Fabricates and assembles all types of electrical, electronic and electro-mechanical equipment, parts, materials, hardware, wire, wire bundles, etc., and their associated equipment into sub-assemblies and complete assemblies where firm drawings and detail assembly instructions have reached their final mechanical and electrical-electronic form.

5. Fabricates wire harnesses from measurements taken from an aircraft, van, overhead rack, console, etc.

6. Performs all the basic tasks required in the electrical and electronic occupations such as soldering, lugging, string-tying and operation of wire, circo, wave solder equipment, etc.

7. Determines location and fitting of panels, boxes, etc., and performs repetitive and routine duties.

8. Works from blueprints, schematics, pictorial presentations, written and verbal instructions and standard assembly procedures.

9. Performs rework, makes changes and modifications, requiring same level of skill defined in this classification.

10. Performs continuity checks, bonding test and other similar type testing.

11. May assist higher rated employees as required.

12. Must be able to obtain certifications essential to accomplish required work.

13. Employees may input and retrieve production data into and from computer systems and buy off (work performed meets specifications) their own work.

14. Clean-up of work areas, tools, and equipment.

15. Performing other work as assigned that is incidental to primary job duties or other assigned work that may be performed safely using tools that are commonly available.


1. Works with and uses all tools, materials, machines, equipment and instruments required to perform job duties.

2. Management may determine that specific training or certifications are required for certain work, jobs, tools, equipment, or assignments.



Normally requires (1) year in various types of electrical-electronic fabrication and assembly. Must have good visual and color perception and good manual dexterity. Must currently be or be able to become Product Quality Verification (PQV) Level I certified within 180 days. Employees who are assigned a PQV Level II certification buys off (work performed meets specifications) their own work and verify the accuracy of work performed by non-certified/licensed employees, within their occupation.


Requires the ability to read and write in English. A detailed analysis of essential job function physical and environmental factors is on file in the Human Resources Department and the First Aid Center.
