Job Description
This position will be part of the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control and MBDA Deutschland joint venture team to develop the next generation Integrated Air and Missile Defense System, “TLVS,” for the German Bundeswehr. The joint venture will be the prime contractor for this new system, which is headquartered in Schrobenhausen, Germany. The company will also have operations in Dallas, Texas, Huntsville, Alabama, and Syracuse, New York, as well as locations in Ulm and Koblenz, Germany.

TLVS is a highly mobile ground based air and missile defense system for protection against the current and future threat spectrum in the lower tier. TLVS is based on the technology and development results of the trinational MEADS air and missile defense system (US, Germany, Italy). The development of this latest generation air defense system was proven by the system demonstration in 2014. TLVS will be employed by Germany in the context of national and collective defense as well as for the protection of deployed troops, facilities and areas against all kinds of aerial threats including the interception of the latest generation of ballistic missiles. The individual components of the system are mounted on protected vehicles, offering high tactical mobility for the protection of mobile land forces.

Lockheed Martin is seeking a Hardware Electro-Mechanical Packaging Design Engineer for a position in Grand Prairie, TX who will be responsible for the hardware development for missile and / or fire control electronics and general packaging support.

Activity will require:
Cross functional coordination to complete hardware design effort to support hardware integration for the designed weapon system.
Research, development and design of components, equipment and networks for military applications.

The engineer will be responsible for the mechanical hardware design of electronic subsystems. This includes PWB board outlines and critical CCA component placement, electronic enclosure design, and electronic harness design. This includes a thorough knowledge of PWB design and fabrication. Also, responsible for the development of all supporting design documentation for fabrication of the hardware, including interpreting requirements and specifications to accurately develop solutions. The candidate will be expected to prepare formal and informal reports for submission to the team members, customers and upper management to support engineering design requirements for complex electronic assemblies.

Relocation assistance is possible for this exciting position.

Anticipated award for this contract is 4Q 2019 with staffing to begin in early 2020.

Basic Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance
- Candidate must have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline
- Design experience should include chassis, electro-mechanical assembly, electrical cable and/or network design
- Candidate must have experience with CCA and PWB design, and cabling / harness design.
- The engineer must have good communication skills, and be able to work with internal and external customers.

Desired skills
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college in Mechanical, Electrical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering
- Working knowledge of printed wiring board and surface mount technologies
- Working knowledge of military and / or industry hardware specifications
- Experience in leading team of similar skill set and providing subject matter expert guidance.
- Experience in ASME Y14.5 and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing
- Proficient with the Pro/Cable module in Creo.
