Description

CallisonRTKL seeks a Senior Designer to join its Dallas office.

Responsibilities

With preliminary direction from a licensed architect, assist in predesign/planning on all phases of international and domestic large scale (250,000+ sqft) mixed use projects, high-rise residential, corporate/commercial, urban, hospitality, retail, entertainment, and cultural projects, including new construction, public space, interiors, plazas and streetscapes; participate in all phases of urban design, mixed use, streetscapes, land use, transportation, and open space planning projects; research domestic and international building codes and regulations, collect data, and write reports and presentations to incorporate research and data into architectural designs; develop programmed space spreadsheets, narrative summaries, room data sheets, adjacency diagrams, graphic content, and prepare final Developed Project Program document; conduct site survey and analysis of existing conditions using GIS; develop site analysis studies requiring site photography, code research, base drawings, and diagrams; develop concept alternatives, studies and development requiring 3D digital massing, floor plans, space plans, building elevations, sections and perspectives; develop exterior envelope design requiring enlarged plans, elevations, sections, details and axonometric drawings; prepare client and public presentations, workshops and meetings, using 2D/3D CAD and building information modeling programs, including Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper, Maxwell, and SketchUp, analysis and computer skills to develop 3D building computer models and images, and presentation images; produce design documentation and presentations with Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint and free-hand sketching; develop documents for all design phases, schematic design through construction documents including documenting architectural plans, elevations, and details in imperial or metric standards for jurisdictional agency corrections using 2D/3D modeling using Autodesk AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, Autodesk Revit and related BIM, 2D and 3D Modeling software; coordinate with physical model and professional rendering vendors globally; incorporate LEED or equivalent sustainable design concepts in architectural design and prepare 3D energy analysis models using Ecotect to evaluate daily sun exposure, heatloads, thermal comfort, and weather data to identify passive design strategies based on the local climate and building type to minimize building energy usage and maximize energy savings; prepare and incorporate weather data analysis to identify passive design potential based on the local climate and building use to minimize building energy needs and maximize the energy savings; produce sunshine analysis of existing building environment and designed buildings according to local code to provide viable massing site planning design by using TSun and other sunshine analysis software; set-up automated parametric optimization workflows using available scripts to connect 3D modeling tools, building environmental analysis tools in order to optimize the building shape and/or building envelope and provide quick feedback on the performance to rest of the design team; coordinate building information modeling (BIM) using Revit to develop BIM process workflow for large-scale projects though all project phases, integrating multiple models together, and resolving coordination conflicts with multiple architectural and consultant models; coordinate design process from concept design through construction with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), structural, civil, A/V, food service/kitchen, landscape, vertical transportation, code, acoustical, security, curtain wall, facade maintenance, sustainability, parking and lighting consultants to incorporate engineering systems into architectural designs to produce construction documentation, and secure client, tenant, landlord and regulatory approval; participate in meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and public agencies on a given project and coordinate for client and agency review and approval; coordinate with (local) owner representatives and contractors to perform necessary modifications of drawings and specifications as construction projects progress and changes in dimensions, materials, and other aspects of design arise; participate in the review and evaluation of products, submittals, issues, and concerns for coordination with construction drawings; determine best approaches for completion of drawings to solve technical issues; participate in site visits, field observation and meetings to review the progress of construction.



Requirements
