Job Title: Systems Engineering Intern – Ph.D. Candidate

Job Duties:
TI’s Perception & Analytics Lab (PAL) designs and demonstrates advanced sensing and perception technology for automotive, robotic, and industrial applications. Its team of experts in signal processing, deep learning, vision, and sensor fusion develops state-of-the-art capabilities for TI’s Processor Division. Students are invited to apply to the PAL internship where they will:
• Learn how to gather application requirements and translate them to functional specifications for high-performance embedded systems.
• Design novel, advanced signal processing, machine learning, and perception algorithms for embedded applications and systems.
• Perform troubleshooting and debugging on issues related to the system.
• Develop new technology demonstrations independently, from concept to early prototype.
Working under the supervision of TI supervisors, the intern will have opportunities to shape the technical direction and approach of the project and file patents as appropriate. Sharing insight and learning is encouraged along with an end-of-summer presentation.
Minimum Requirements:
• Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
• Minimum Cumulative 3.0 / 4.0 GPA
Preferred Requirements:
• Strong background in machine learning, computer vision, or image signal processing
• Experience with developing autonomous capabilities for robotics, drones, or embedded systems
• Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work both independently as well as in a small team
• Strong time management skills that enable achieving on-time project milestones
• Ability to build strong, influential relationships
• Ability to work effectively and efficiently on a compressed schedule
• Ability to take initiative, manage barriers and drive for results
