Position Description
Assigned by programmatic Department Chair(s), Regional Dean/administrator to work with a faculty member in the Undergraduate Program. Responsible for working with and reporting to the faculty member to whom she/he is assigned.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Answer emails/phone calls from students, covering a range of topics, such as:
    • APA questions
    • How to do research
    • Canvas navigation questions
    • How to register with ADA
    •  Providing guidance in how to be successful taking online classes.
  • Work independently, often answering emails/returning phone calls in the evenings or weekends, whenever the student/faculty, needs help.
  • Check grades in every section of every class during the minimester, making notes of any student who has a failing grade.
  • Check every section for any student who has turned in a late assignments. Keep notes accordingly.
Every minimester:
  • Monitor student participation in courses during the first week of class and send emails to any students who have not participated by the 4th day of class. Resolve any issues that are revealed. 
  • Send mid-term warning emails to any student who is struggling at mid-term and send a list to the SAO Enrollment Management Coordinator. 
  • Counsel with the students who are failing at mid-term to determine what they need to be successful and refer them to the proper resources for help.
  • Advise the student on the minimum grades for the remaining assignments in order to pass the class.
  • If passing is not possible, counsel with the student on how to drop the class and repercussions for doing so.
  • Advise the instructor, if asked, whether or not to assign a W or WF, if the student withdraws.
  • Work personally with students who have been referred for help with their writing, which includes proofreading the assignment/pointing out all grammar and APA mistakes, with instructions on how to correct the paper.
  • Review VeriCite reports and reveal my findings and opinion to the instructor.  This often involves looking back at the student’s work in previous classes to determine if plagiarism has occurred previously, without being addressed.  If plagiarism is discovered, guide the instructor on how to proceed and when to contact the director.  Minor plagiarism issues are resolved without involving the director.
  • Attend any Zoom meeting with the student when plagiarism is discovered, along with faculty, lead faculty, and/or director.  Notify student of any previous plagiarism issues that may/may not have been addressed, especially if the student denies previous plagiarism issues.  Advise student of the option/process to withdraw, if necessary.
  • Answer questions from faculty regarding students’ issues with previous late papers or other history.  Counsel the faculty on how to handle the current situation.  Contact student directly, or provide student’s contact information to the faculty.
Every semester:
  • Review the Progressions Report prepared by the SAO Enrollment Management Coordinator to ensure its accuracy before presentation to the Admissions & Progressions (A & P) Committee.
  • Attend the A & P Committee meeting, and answer any questions about a student’s grade or progress in the program.
  • Closely monitor every student that is identified by the A & P Committee as being "at risk".  Report on the performance of these students to the A & P Committee.
Occasional duties:
  • Attend the RN/BSN Council meetings, every other month.  Present an advisor’s report and answer any questions concerning the report.
  • Gather data on students as needed for the Director.  Identify trends with issues in individual courses in order to find solutions.
  • Attend Curriculum Leadership Group meetings, to stay informed on class content in order to appropriately advise students.
  • Attend pre-course meetings, if invited by lead faculty, in order to explain my role to course facilitators, especially if new or recurrent faculty are involved, and learn of any changes to the course.
  • Attend the RN/BSN Faculty retreat.  Give presentations on defined topics, if requested.  Learn from the presentations of others. Be available to answer questions.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in nursing degree required. All degrees must be from an accredited university. Clinical experience (for at least two years) in the general area in which the individual will teach. Licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
