Design Engineer on existing aircraft development program that integrates surrounding structure and vehicle systems interfaces, reviews & reconciles requirements from several technical and manufacturing development counterparts including stress, product support, and manufacturing engineering. Develops and designs vehicle fluid delivery systems, hydraulic, fuel, fire suppression, bleed air and related integrated systems. Working level knowledge of government and industry design standards and requirements. Conveys engineering design intent using CATIA V5 and Enovia product data management system as well as a variety of MS office software applications. Experience with CATIA tube work bench, tube/duct and equipment supplier coordination is preferred. Develops and maintains an engineering bill of material and product structure. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Strong leadership skills, understanding of engineering performance metrics and ability to drive accountability.
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
The successful candidate will typically have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent or a bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited university or an associates degree with additional aerospace experience. A minimum of six (6) years related experience. Demonstrated, successful technical leadership experience is a plus.
